ENC LOSURE 1.
ADMIRALTY, S." 1.

Commander-in-Chief
H. M. Ships & Vessels,
OH INA.
5th November 1926.
25
With reference to your submission No. 871/91 dated
20th July, 1926, forwarding a summary of conclusions and recommend-
ations arrived at at a Conference on Wireless Telegraphy at Hong
Kong held on 12th May 1926, I am to acquaint you that Their Lord-
ships are in general agreement with the proposals contained therein.
Their Lordships consider, however, that any spark trans- mitter installed in Stonecutters W/T Station would, owing to its
proximity to the Remote Control Station, inevitably cause
interference on other wavelengths.
2.
3.
They desire, therefore, that the local government
authorities may be approached with a view to their consenting to
the substitution of an I.C.V. set for the spark set when the
proposed transfer takes place.
4.
The same argument is applicable in the case of the 375
metre set in the Dockyard.
5.
Their Lordships further desire to point out that, over distances of a few hundred miles e.g., Hanoi to Stonecutters,
wavelengths from 60 to 90 metres can provide a good service and
would suggest that this point should also be brought to the notice
of the local authorities for their consideration as an alternative
to the proposed use of 35 metres, in order that the latter wave may be preserved for long distance communication, for which it
is particularly suitable.
6.
Their Lordships are of the opinion that no liabilities should be incurred over the final proposals until the transition
stage has been thoroughly tested.
BY COMMAND OF THEIR LORDSHIPS.
